Ladies and Gentlemen, i am truly sorry for what you have been going thru. I have read most but not all comments and questions and i have read most but not all responses by the collectors. I must say i am not surprised at what i have read and see. I will gladly admit that i was part of the stupid mental concept that i was better than the class of Americans who were in a financial situation that resulted in me making calls to bother and harrass them.
I will give you a quick concept of who i was. When i started collecting back in Mt Laurel, NJ at a company called Allied Bond and Collections, I thought it was the greatest thing in the world, i was taken thru a training class and taught VERY carefully the various state laws across the country regarding collections. I was given the collection name Shawn Dempsey, We were told at that point we were to address each other by our DUNNING names to make the process easier. At that time i had no idea what i was in for,
When i got out the training class and got on the floor, everything i was taught in the classroom i was told to ignore most of it, and to treat CERTAIN people with tender hands, those being the ones in the legal profession or celebrities or individuals of that caliber. Otherwise we could use tactics to get info that was illegal as long as we werent being recorded and in most cases we were told when we were gonna be recorded in order to do it "CORRECTLY", i became a master of using skip tracing techniques and credit inquireing... By the way most agencies that pull your credit do so under a name you wont recognize thats why you may get your report and wonder who is this, that inquiry lowers your score by the way. The agencies dont care.
I quit there after being given the option to quit or resign, because i started to do something that they wanted us to not do..."LISTEN TO THE PERSON IN DEBT". I started to wonder and then began to understand what was going on in peoples lives and why they were in situations, then it hit me. Even though i getting them to pay a debt, they were cycling back in the system because they couldnt pay what i was calling about and then the other bills that they were barely holding onto and that they had to pay and it was a constant problem. Very few people in collection agencies set out to just create debt and and not pay but collectors dont want to listen and dont care.
I started working for a company in wilmington and the owner of the company required us to use passion and respect and to understand that the debtors are people and not numbers and not deadbeats. I learned and helped so many people in diffrent ways and it taught me that even though i may hear the same story time after time... Only a few are from people who are liers the rest really do go thru the same painful mess of no income and plenty of bills. I want to show and help people to repair their credit for FREE... Thats right for FREE... Some of you have given Great and accurate advice and some of you are off the mark but your intentions are good.
I will also show you how to handle collectors in your state because laws from state to state do vary depending... Like in certain states the agency can only call your job after they have reached you at home and only with permission in advance (Remember when you filled out that form that oddly enough certain states were exculed from certain things and activities on your contract or application). Bill Collectors are glad that most consumers dont read those.
I will gladly teach you how they use your neighbors and your kids against you... I learned from some of the best in the collection industry and i having been there as a collector i made good money... Ok great money but my spending was very bad. I am not saying all collectors are bad and most arent but, they are so determined to do a good job that they compromise their own principals to have a job that most dont like. I can go on and on... If you gonna write to complain that im a this or that. You can as well but realize this. I am opening my own agency and i will only work with certain clients to collect for becuase i will only do accounts that requires sensitivity. I didnt mention the agency in wilmington i worked for because i have not informed the owner in advance... Its a respect issue. Allied bond on the other hand had some serious Violations that resulted in courts cost and other issues. How do i know? I was one of the people that was called in advance by the company to appear as a good witness i told the truth and that was not what Allied bond was expecting... Oh well
