I was called by a "James Stewart" claiming to be the CEO of Select Management Solutions. He promised to reduce my high interest credit card debt by at least 10%. The fee for this was $449, which, he said, would involve many phone calls between his staff and the credit card companies, many letter writing campaigns over a few months, and items of this nature.
Months went by, and the interest rate on one of my cards WENT up by 1%. After several phone calls to him, he was actually angry with me, yelling at me over the phone, saying "You missed a credit card payment now they won't even talk to me." I told him I had made 19 consecutive credit card payments at least 1 week before the payments were do. It was obvious to me he did not know anything about my credit since he was not talking to the credit card people.
One time, he called me, in a 3-way call, claiming to have someone else on the phone from the credit card company who would negotiate my new rate. He was negotiating and arguing with the person, but at some point, it all seemed "fake". The person on the other line was not adjusting my credit card rate, sighting things that were not even associated with me.
So, at one point, I said to the credit card rep: "Can you see my credit card purchases?" She said "Yes, of course." I said "Tell me the date and amount of my last purchase." They both hung up immediately. It was apparent this was a scam. They were both in the same office talking to one another, with one person pretending to be with the credit card company. After telling my credit card company about this, they won't give me my money back. I want my $449 back, plus interest!
