I received a letter from them stating my account was temporarily suspended due to an overlimit. I was charged the overlimit fee. I couldn't understand why I was overlimited when my account was okay before that. Then I discovered why, I should have kept track and didn't! It was time to be be charged for my $48 annual fee and that put me over the limit and I was charged the fee. I have paid every payment on time and knew the fees and all I was getting myself into.
I just am tired and fed up and want to be rid of this card. I paid the balance of $318.05 and sent them a check plus a letter in writing telling them to close my account. I don't even want to talk to them. They have been calling my house non stop. They tell me a payment is due immediately but the website states a payment isn't due until June 15.
It will be my luck they'll hold the payoff amount for 20 days (they've never done this to me before but since I want to close the card they get mad and do it anyways) for "payment verification" or whatever. I should have listened to these consumer complaints on this website earlier and closed it.
I did try last year, but they "sweet talked" me into keeping it to build credit. They have reported me as positive to the credit bureaus, but I feel that now they will lie and say my account was closed due to an overlimit. I hope they don't and they better not! I made a copy of the letter I mailed them (just not the payment, I should have) just in case.
