This time I was smart enough not to... After applying for a loan with Fairfax lending, I told them about the scam I fell for due to another company, charging advance loan fees.
Since I had just been a victim, I'm on top of it this time. I got fooled twice, by the same company... Not by this one!
1. The phone number comues up unlisted on my caller ID-fishy.
2. The guy was rather interested in the name of the company that scammed me, they like to keep a list, and stay on top of it... Fishy.
3. I didn't hear from them in days! I call back, and oh... Uh... A few seconds later... Oh ya, it seems we can't help you out, and you don't want to do collateral... Then I asked, "do you mean a house as collateral? Or money" and the guy replies, "monetary collateral". I said no thank you, that is illegal, and I'm not falling for it again.
His reply, this isn't illegal, it is simply a collateral payment for a loan. It isn't illegal if we apply the collateral to the loan balance, this is not an advance fee. Uh huh. Sure.
Do not fall victim to these guys! It is illegal. I am currently reporting them to anyone I can. They said they get leads from several sources, possibly statewide.com. Well I applied to that site. Beware!
