Complaint / Review
Calvary Portfolio
I paid original creditor and they claimed i paid them - looks like i paid the collection agency and i didn't

This is for the experienced collectors...

1. Back in I cancelled sprint b/c of poor service.

2. They continued to bill me - I paid two months on the third month I told them to take a hike. (first mistake)

3. They turned the account over to Calvary portfolio. I told both sprint and calvary the $ wasn't owed and to validate. I sent more than 100 letters (several each week) and neither responded.

4. I decided to give sprint service another try in 2006. Sprint said there was around $50.00 owed. I explained the above. They said pay it and and they would credit the account. I paid and they credited my new account. I paid via credit card (thank god for record...)

5. Pulled credit report and what a shock (not) Calvary claims the following:
(a.) I paid THEM not SPRINT
(b.) Calvary says they attempted to collect on the debt (and this I think is important because of the way they entered the negative crap on my report...) it looks like they back dates things

"Collection as of Jan to Mar Aug to Nov Jun april Feb"

What is with the collection as dates???

They NEVER contacted me via phone nor written about an open account. I need verbiage to send to Calvary... I sent proof of Sprint payment to the credit bureau but it will take (I think they said 60 days)...

I contacted sprint and they said TOO BAD SO SAD - we should not have accepted your payment and to contact Calvary... Since I have had no dealings with these (explative deleted) what is my best next course of action?

Interesting enough, I had talked with sprint earlier this year about the old account and they confirmed it was PAID and IN GOOD STANDING. I asked specifically (guess I have reading consumer complaints TOO MUCH) if any negatives had been reported to the credit bureau because of the snafu... While they were technically correct SPRINT HAD NOT REPORTED NEGATIVES... Their collection agency DID

Thanks
