I have been ripped off By Ameritrust Financial! My report was posted on this site on 3-25-07. I also sent letters to FTC, CNN, BBB and the Attorney General. The Attorney General responded back to me with an e-mail containing some very useful information. I have pasted the e-mail below!!! Good Luck!!!

This is in response to your e-mail received March 26 by Attorney General Bob McDonnell's office concerning the above-referenced company. We appreciate your taking the time to make us aware of this matter and we also appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you.
First, let me begin by explaining the role of the Office of the Attorney General so you can better understand the handling of your complaint. This Office enforces state and federal consumer protection and antitrust laws. When there is a pattern of deception or other wrongdoing, the Attorney General is authorized to take action to stop the illegal conduct, and, where appropriate, seek refunds for affected consumers.individual complaints like yours play a very important role in notifying the Attorney General about possibly deceptive or otherwise illegal practices taking place in Virginia, which can lead to enforcement actions or legislative initiatives. Because the Attorney General's Office is not the central clearinghouse for consumer complaints in Virginia, we typically initially refer most complaints to one of our client agencies, the Virginia Office of Consumer Affairs (OCA) that does serve this role or some other local, state or federal agency for investigation and/or dispute resolution handling (e.G., mediation).
Having said all this, I did a small amount of online research on this company which appears to be located in Florida. For this reason, you may file a complaint with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Typically a consumer protection agency in the state in which a company is located has the best likelihood of achieving a favorable resolution to a complaint or bringing a successful law enforcement action should that be necessary. In addition, you may also file a complaint with the OCA. The OCA attempts to facilitate the resolution of complaints by consumers against companies doing business in Virginia. If it has reason to believe a pattern or practice of deception, or other wrongdoing, in violation of any of our consumer protection statutes is occurring, the OCA has authority to investigate and to refer its findings to this Office or other appropriate governmental offices for a potential enforcement action. The OCA requires a completed and signed complaint form before it can assist you or enter your complaint into its database. In closing, I want to thank you again for taking the time to write to us about this company. Often it is only through letters and e-mails from people like you that we are made aware of consumer issues, scams and trends.
