I worked for gte before it became verizon. I have had phone service paying my bills every month. A couple of months ago i got a form letter from afni stating that i had an outstanding bill owed to verizon. I called afni and disputed the charges about a month ago i got another form letter this time the amount is $1025.73 i tried calling afni and got a very nasty customer service rep who proceeded to tell me that i must have gotten a new account when i had my service transferred to a new address. I informed the rep that i had been an employee of verizon for eight years and i knew that if i had an outstanding account i would not have phone service at this time. The rep said i would have to provide documentation for the charges to be deleted from my credit report. According to afni this bill is from july which is the same time i was let go from verizon. I remember that date very vividly because my father was terminally ill at that time and verizon would not allow me the time to care for him. My father passed away exactly 3 months to the day.
I went afni website to dispute the charges and i was sent a form letter with a so called copy of a final bill without any additional information. I went online and contacted verizon and was advised to call 800-483-1807 i contacted the number and spoke with someone named kim who advised me to contact afni. I have just been betting the run around from both companies and now this account appears twice on my credit report. I can see from your website that i am not the only person going through this and hopefully someone will be able to help us.
