Verizon and AFNI are BOTH guilty as far as I am concerned. Verizon sent AFNI my personal information including my ss# on a bogus debt. I had a landline in FL in 1993/1994 and do not owe anything to these people. Back then it was GTE/Bellsouth. I see some people contacting the media. GOOD LUCK! I contacted everyone I could find on the internet from Fox, CNN, etc. On down to the smallest newspapers. ONE responded and told me they could not travel so unless they found someone in Florida they could not do anything. That is the ONLY one who responded back.
I have written both Verizon and AFNI (armed with the information I found here - a big thank you to those of you who gave the right information for us to demand from these places). Verizon finally responded with a generic letter stating they cannot legally respond (fine, let them respond to the FTC and General Attorney and BBB), and AFNI, of course, has not responded except to BBB to claim they cannot find the account that they say is mine. It would really help if the media would at least give some of us some help with this! Thanks alot guys, I wonder how you would feel if it was YOU in some of our positions.
I have now filed with the FTC and I am also going to call the police department tomorrow to see if it's possible to file ID Theft against Verizon and AFNI. I am fed up and sick to death of this garbage!
