Recently, I viewed a web site that professed to have years of financial experience in getting loans for people with difficult credit. I figured that I had nothing to lose, and filled out their form.
Some time later, I was contacted by a young man named James Tucker, who stated that they had worked very hard to match me up with a private lender. Because of my credit situation, however, the lender had requested that I pay the first four payments on the loan up-front, before the funds could be released. Needless to say, this set off alarm bells in my head.
Having little better to do, than screw with such obvious con-men, I asked James to send me the paperwork, so that I could look it over.in the meantime, I checked out the address that he gave me. It turns out that 155 Market Street in Wichita, is a huge complex, with probably hundreds of occupants. When I called the company back, and spoke to their "customer service department, " another young man told me that they had an entire floor. Not thirty seconds later, however, he stated that they were a small company.
Later on in the day, I checked out who had registered the website name. It had been registered to a Shawn Hadley. The address for Shawn Hadley was listed as Washington, Indiana. I'd love to post the phone number that was listed, but will have to be satisfied by mentioning that it had a 519 area code. The 519 area code is in Canada. It is in neither Kansas, nor Indiana.
Deciding that I had had enough of dealing with Newport Lenders Group, I called James, and told him that my wife would agree to his terms, but only if he would provide us with his business license number, so that we could check them out. He said that he would call me back within the hour. As expected, that was the last I ever heard from them. They have an answering service that requires the caller to announce their name, before they are connected. So, it is not unexpected that they never answer for me.
The bottom line is this: Anyone who sends money to these clowns can kiss it off.
No, wait... The bottom line is this: These guys aren't just criminals—they are mind-numbingly stupid! At the very least they could have taken the time to research the address that they planned to use as a front, and picked a suite number!!! And, disposable phones are a dime a dozen in the U.S. Why not get one, register the website under that number, then toss the phone away?!? Don't be even more stupid by falling for this scam!
