My son was working with an Alex Cole at Firstpoint Loans for a loan of $5000 so he could go to school. Alex told him that he was qualified and that he would have to send $ 930.00, by moneygram, from Walmart only, to a place in Westridge, Ontario Canada.
I went to Walmart for my son and sent the $ 930.00 which charged me a fee of $14.16, totalling $ 944.16. I then called Alex to inform him that it was done and gave him the Reference number. He said ok the money will be in your checking account in 24 hours.
After 24 hours went by, there was no money in the account. I called Alex again and he said there was a problem with the loan and that he has given it to upper authority, to a person named James Green.
When I called James Green, I received a answering message that said, who is calling please? I said my name and he picked up the phone. He said that there was a problem with the lending agent. He said that they are requiring another $ 930.00 for the loan. Since my son was already registered to go to school, we sent another $ 930.00 plus $ 14.16 totaling $ 944.16, by moneygram, from Walmart only, to them.
I then called James Green and gave him the reference number. He said that the money, he promised, would be in the bank in 24 hours.
Again, 24 hours later, no money. I called James Green. Got only his voice mail. I left messages and messages. Finally he answered and said that there was a problem with the lender again, but he found a secured lender this time and that we had to send $ 800.00 more and the loan would be for $ 8000.00.
I told him this sounded like a scam, but he assured me it was not. I told him no I just want my money back. He said fine. They were going to reimb me for both $ 944.16 money grams. They were also going to reimb me the $ 14.16 charge from walmart.
I asked him when I will get it and he said that they will be cutting checks on Dec 14, because this all comes out of another department, and it would be federal expressed to me on the 15th.
As you can guess, the 15th came and no check. I gave it a few days thinking he missed the deadline to send mail out.
On Dec 18, I called and received a message that the phones were not working and that I needed to call customer service. Then the phone hangs up on you. It didn't even give me a number to call.
So, I looked up on the internet, and NOT to my surprise, other people have been scammed just like my son and I am hear to let you know that we too, are one of the victims and we would like to get them also.
