Complaint / Review
Household Bank
Fraudulent billing

1. They charged me a balance transfer fee, which was supposed to be waived according to the policy. I got a mailer, which offered me no-charge balance transfer for application of a Household credit card. But after I got my card, they charged me $17.50 for the balance transfer. I contacted them several times by email and call and I even sent a copy of the offer policy. Within two months, they messed up my account by charging, refunding and recharging; finally they still charged me and didn't solve this problem.

2. Worse, they didn't want to resolve my reasonable dispute. There is an unauthorized transaction from priceline.com, which is due to the mess up of the priceline.com processing system. I filed a dispute with Household bank on Sep 27 (just immediately after I found this charge) and they just kept the issue sleeping and didn't do anything about it. I had been contacting them by several emails and calls but got no reply.

And then I emailed them that I would complain them and they just replied to me and told me that this issue was in "research". After two months, they said they would not resolve this problem for me. Because I didn't get any service from priceline.com and according to MasterCards 0 liability policy, I should not be responsible for that charge.

It looks Household bank is not a responsible credit card company, and they didn't do anything but just delayed everything and then found a chance to flee away from their responsibilities. Their customer service system is like this way: They only have email contact, and their free phone service only put you into your account balance by voice machine but no customer representative.

It is very odd that although you can contact them by another free phone which only deals with technical issues, they will let you email your problem. And then, no reply to your email and just let you kill your time to wait for non-reply and let everything expire. As a consumer, I just want to let others stay away from this bad credit card company, and also, I need to fight for my right.

It takes all my energy and time to deal with them, so that I have to file this complaint. I need they resolve my dispute of $161.81 and refund the groundless charge of the balance transfer fee of $17.50.
