NCO Financial Systems threats, liying vultures, attempted rip off

I had a dispute with Sears which I could not settle with them because of their unwillingness to settle.

Sears turned my account over to NCO Financial Systems, Inc.

NCO sent me an unsigned form letter demanding a figure which was exactly DOUBLE the amount that Sears claimed I owed.in the form letter NCO claimed they were licensed by my State Insurance Department and even listed a license number in the unsigned form letter.

In May the Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania filed a lawsuit against NCO Financial Systems and about three other names they operate under, charging them with several violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. When the trial was over NCO and others operating in cahoots with them, had to pay a fine of $1.5 MILLION dollars.

I got a phone call from an amployee of NCO Financial Systems, by the name of Jackie Widman/Wideman who got very repulsive very fast. She told me I could lose my home and my car if I didn't pay that DOUBLE amount by the end of the month of July. I received the letter on the 13th of July. I told her there was no truth in the figures put forth in the unsigned form letter I got from NCO. So she told me she was going to report me as 'refusing to pay' those were her exact words. She wanted me to give her 6 advance check numbers, my social security number, and my bank account number. I refused to give up that information.

I contacted the Insurance Dept in my state and sent them copies of all documents. I got a nice letter back from the Insurance Department thanking me for alerting them to NCO Financial Systems, Inc.

A few days later, August 8, I wrote the Insurance Department a long letter explaining the background of the whole thing. I also reported NCO Financial Systems and Sears to the Federal Trade Commission on July 31.

The FTC phone number is toll free 1-877-382-4357. If you call you won't have to wait long to talk to real live person and file a complaint. They will give you a reference number to use if you have to call them back to update your original complaint. I have already called back twice to update my complaint against Sears and NCO Financial Systems. The employees at the Federal Trade Commission are very nice and polite, and helpful.
