Complaint / Review
Allied Interstate
Ripoff

A few months after I paid off the balance of my visa cards I began to hear from Allied. I actually have worked very hard to ensure that I have no debt and pay my cards in full. My wife and I both have Excellent credit.

The caller id would show Allied Interstate calling and would hang up numerous times a day. When I was home and answered it would be some guy demanding to know my social security number or what my name was. On one occasion they advised I owed some debt that I had never heard of. They then asked if I was someone / same first name and last name with a different middle initial. I told them no. Nor would I give them my social security number when they asked.

I finally called the phone company who advised that even though this was a company being investigated for fraud there was nothing they could do about blocking it, because they claim to be a collection agency. They phone company advised that if they called again to demand that they send me a notice of any debt in writing.

I did this and had not heard from them for the last year. The other day they started calling and hanging up again. Like before, today the guy just called and asked if my name was sxxx mxxxxxx and then hung up on me after i said yes. My attorney told me just not to give them any information as they would not need to request it if they were a valid collector. Also, I know I have no outstanding debt.

However, it is sad that this would seem to be a case of legalized fraud and harrassment. I have to wonder what this company does with all those Social Security numbers it does get from people that do not really owe the debt's they mistakenly claim?
