Hello,
In mid-August of I received a letter from the Federal Trade Commission regarding Homecomings Financial. While I have not been pleased with this company and specifically requested my mortgage person to make sure I would not end up with them again, I can't find anything specifically wrong with my account at this time. (yes, my mortgage was sold to them again) I do need to sit down and go through all of my billing with them to verify it's all accurate and nothing extra has transpired.
What I find interesting is that I had a false negative mark on my credit report for a late mortgage payment with GMAC. I spent months getting this corrected. The very day, I knew my credit report was clean, my mortgage guy ran my report and another false late payment popped up, again from GMAC. This false mark reported my payment was late for a month and year I did not hold a mortgage with GMAC. It's been my understanding GMAC owns or is affiliated with Homecomings.
I have two questions then, is it true Homecomings is part of GMAC in some way and how do I verify it's really the Federal Trade Commission I have been contacted by?
I responded to the letter I received, it said to call a certain number, leave a message with my phone number, name and to leave a good time I could be contacted. That's it, I have not heard back from them.
Has anyone had anything like this happen to them and if so, could you please share in helpful information?
Sincerely
