I was recently contacted by a guy stating that I had been pre approved for 2 cards (Visa and Mastercard) totaling 5K along with various offers included in the welcome package that I was supposed to recieve, I immediately asked him where he got my name, he said tha I had filled out a form on line recently, I didn't think anything else about it as I was tending to my 4 month old daughter, he goes through his whole script and then says he needs me to verify my account information so they can debit 219.00 out of my account as payment for these cards, I asked him why would I need to pay you 219.00 out of my account when you could just put the 219.00 on the new card, he really didn't give me an answer. I told him I would not verify any info for him, to my surprise he stated all my account INFO TO ME!!! And then asked me if it was right, I told him again that I would not be verifying this info for him, I asked him a second time where he had obtained my name to see if it would be the same answer that he gave me the first time... Well surprise surprise, his response this time was that since the September 11th events they were extending credit offers to a massive amount of people in order to build the economy, I knew it was not legit then, I told him to have a good noght and no thanks... 10 minutes later I get another call from the same company in an effort to verify my account information again, I did not fall for it. Yesterday I am at work and I get a call from my babysitter stating that I had gotten a call from a guy named Mario from First Capital and they needed some additonal info in order to process accounts, I then got the point that these people were way too persistent to just let this go even though I had already said no, so I call my bank and explain to them what is going on and ask them to block any transactions from this company, she gave me some info on how to do this, but warned me if these people are as persistent as they seem and they already have some account information, they could probably work around the system and get into my account, she said they best thing for me to do is close this account and open new ones. I left work on luch break to do this... Which I did. Last Night around 8.30 Mario calls again and I told him that I found all the negative info about the scams they were running, he them told me that he gets that complaint from a alot of people he talks to, but it is not the same First capital Consumers Group because his company is affiliated with Mastercard, I told him I was not buying it and not to call me again, and I hung up the phone... Well you may not beleive this but about 30 min later I get yet another call... From a different guy stating that since I was offered this package and because they started processing my info it would cost me 50.00 to cancel everything which could be debited from my account, I told him that I had already made everyone I could think of aware of them and their scams and that if he called me again or tried to pursue any of this I would contact the police and use my bank to validate and confirm the info in my complaint against them he then got a little indignant and said if you don't want this offer so one else will, and hung upNote: I still changed all my account info because you never know what these people are capable of.
