In March I was charged one dollar to become a member of My Perfect Credit.in there terms it stated that I only would be charged for items that I requested that they dispute on my behalf and if there were no actions taken in any given month I would not be charged. Since the initial registry I never logged back in nor did I ever request that they dispute any items on my behalf.
As incredible as it may seem I did not realize that they had billed my credit card account $34.95 for the last 12 months. I am always monitoring my creidt and disputing inaccurate information myself but it wasn't until recently that I started to get bombarded with credit reports from all three agencies indicating that they investigated my disputes and verified information was correct, that I realized what was going on. I even got one from Transunion stating that they deemed my disputes to be frivolous which is against the FCA.
I remember getting the monthly emails reminders that if there were any actions taken I would not be charged more than $34.95 a month. Since I never initated anything I just deleted them. I checked my credit card and low and behold found the charges. I called my credit card company and they gave me the telephone number to contact My Perfect Credit. I was not able to get anyone live when I called so I got their email address and tried to log on. I had to request that they send me a password. When I logged on I had a balance of $745.00 and apparently they had been disputing not only accurate information but infomation that was not adversely affecting my credit. When I tried to cancel online their cancelation disclaimer was unbelievable.in the disclaimer it stated that by canceling I was agreeing not to dispute any prior charges and I would agree to pay the balance in 30 days and waived all my rights to dispute. (DO NOT CANCEL VIA THEIR WEB SITE)
I sent the support department several emails and their answer was that they ID information and if I do not opt out they automatically dispute the items and charge $6.95 for each item. I was furious and stated that I wanted my account immediately closed but I refused to cancel through their web site. They eventualy canceled my account manually. Luckily I printed my dipspute screen, my billing information along with their terms to prove that they are scammers. The terms clearly idicate that I have to choose the items. I advised them that I refused to pay the balance and wanted a full credit for the monies they charged my card. I read the Rip-off editors response and saw that a law suit had been filed by the CA DA office back in 2003 and just recently settled. I can not believe that even after the law suit and settlement that they continue to rip people off. I have made several reprots to the local new stations who have consumer beware departments. I am going to do everything I can to expose this company for their illegal actions.
