I called an add in my newspaper for bad credit loans.
Was approved, of course, but was asked for 10% down. I googled the company, got what looked to be a reputable web-site. I even looked in the yellow pages in New York to see if they were listed, & looked on the better business bureau website. All looked well. (BBB showed no negative marks in the last 3 years, though they were in negative standing for not responding to a complaint. The lady I talked to said that may be because they are a large company.) I asked the loan lady, a Mrs. Tammy Scott
to put it in writing, and she faxed me what looked like legit papers. I western-unioned $700 to a "private lender" who was handling the loan. I got a funny feeling, went home, and thank God, found this web-site. I called western union, told them, and they canceled the transfer. Luckily, the "lender" a Mr. Peter Noel, had not picked up the money yet and I was able to get my money back, less the transfer fee. Thanks to consumer complaints.com I'm only out $60 instead of $760. I can't express my appreciation, but I will do all I can to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else. Also, though the only name I found for this company is Mortgage Expo, in the report I found on this web-site they were also called Primerica.
