This agency has done nothing but cause pain to their client, myself, and the collection agency ACTUALLY in charge of the debt. After learning I had a judgement on my credit from two years ago, I contacted the apartment it was regarding and they gave me the number to the correct collection agency. One week later, I received a letter from Surety Acceptance Corporation demanding more money than they were entitled to.
When I contacted Surety, they notified me that I needed to pay this in full immediately and they would not be contacting the other individual on the account. I informed them that I was handling this with the proper agency and they ceased for two months.
At the end of that two months, I began receiving notifications from Surety while I was already paying on the debt with another agency. I informed them once again of my relationship with the other agency and Surety ceased until now.
I paid the debt in full to the correct agency on October 3. On October 11, I received a letter from Surety Acceptance asking for my employment information so that they could begin garnishing my wages for a debt already paid!
The correct collection agency has already notified the credit bureaus and the apartment complex. When I call Surety, they are amazingly never available. I thought I was done with this when I paid it off, but apparently Surety Acceptance doesnt think so.
I am sending Surety a letter stating that I have paid this judgement, but I can be fairly sure it will do nothing.
A note to clients looking for collection agencies: STEER CLEAR OF SURETY ACCEPTANCE CORPORATION! If you are a debtor with Surety, it is my recommendation that you try to pay your debt with your creditor.
