We, too, have been ripped off by www.consumerinfo.com to get a free report on my husbands credit.
My husband signed up for a free credit report from all three agencies thinking it was free. Key word, it said free! I noticed on the checking account there was a charge for $19.90. I then called the company, not only getting a very rude woman, said he signed up in June. She said it was also cancelled soon after that. So why did I get charged for the fee? Well, she said it was for filling out the application.
I told her the ad that I was reading to her from the internet as I was talking to her said free, but being he filled out the application, we were charged. I, too, have not seen a report, nor has my husband.
It makes me sick that we as consumers that want help with our credit have people that thrive on taking advantage of us. People like this need to be stopped. It is a massive rip-off and others need to be aware.
