United Collection Bureau
Ripoff highly unethical collection practice

This collection agency has highly unethical collection practices. The creditor for the credit card account in question is CitiBank.

1.) One day, they called my grandmother, and talked so terribly to her that she was scared I was going to go to jail.

2.) I have made reasonable attempts to make payments. I explained that due to my financial situation this month, starting at the beginning of the next month, I would be able to send them $130 a week until the debt is satisfied. (The total debt is a little over $1,000.) This was not satisfactory to them. They wanted an immediate payment of $300, and would not compromise.

3.) Second, I offered to settle with them at 50%. They would not even consider anything less than 70%, which is substantially over the principal credit limit.

4.) After all of these offers, they told me that they were going to take my car, which they can't do since it is exempt from seizure, threatened to garnish my wages, which they also can't do without a judge's order. They also told me I have no credibility in a court of law because I traded my car in earlier this year. Yes, I did trade in my car for another one causing a higher monthly payment, but the car I had was not stable, and I couldn't afford to fix it, and the car I traded in for was an old car with 100,000 miles already on it.

5.) Further, everything I makes goes to support my disabled family. I am the only one who works. Of course, they do not care about this.

Bottom line, if you receive a call from this company, don't even try to work anything out. They will not compromise, even if you threaten bankruptcy (which for me, is looking more and more viable). Just tell them not to call your home or your business (yes, they called my business, too) anymore, and if they do, report them to the Federal Trade Commission. They threatened to take me to court from day one, before we even had a chance to work out an agreement, and they haven't taken me yet. I cannot believe they would not accept $130 a week. Just make sure to send in a payment of some kind to your creditor, even if it is just a dollar, and do not take any kind of BS from these people.
