National Processing - NCO Financial
Called me at work to tell me my bank records had been subpoenaed and that I was being sued

I got a call at work this morning around 9:30 A.M. From someone who would not give their name but said they were with National Processing, which after considerable time on the Internet I found is another name for NCO Financial, and that they wished to speak to me.

I told her that she was speaking to me and she proceeded to tell me that a legal suit was being brought against me, for $200 for fraud. I told her that the bill had been paid and she proceeded to give me all my information over the phone. Social security number, address, phone, etc.

I told her that she needed to talk to my attorney and gave her his name, and she continuously kept saying that she did not need to speak to him. That my bank records had been subpoenaed and that at 11:45 A.M. A suit would be filed in my area.

I told her that she needed to talk to my attorney, that this bill had already been paid, and that my checking account had been debited so many times that it was in the negative $507.00. She then read off my account number and transmittal number and the name of my bank and said that this suit would be filed. I again told her to talk to my attorney and hung up.

I called my attorney who told me that no they cannot subpoena my bank records and that no suit was probably being filed. Which did make me feel somewhat better. But I do not appreciate the harassment at work, the belittling they put me through especially with co-workers around nor do I appreciate her attitude especially after I repeatedly told her to contact my attorney.

I did owe this amount but it was $200 and was paid back. How can people get away with this? How can they repeatedly go into your checking account and continue to take out money, which they know is not there's. I have since closed this account, but am so frustrated that collection agencies can get away with this kind of harassment.
