I recieved regular mail envelope with a certificate and a flyer inside, that said I was pre qualified for auto loan up to $24,998. Flyer said I must call in order to authorize my pre-qualification and I must have the certificate pre-qualification number ready.
I dialed the number and representative answered by announcing the firms name. He proceeded to ask me personal information such as my address, name, date of birth, and social security number. He never asked me for the certificate number, even though I mentioned it.
I am wondering now if I got ripped off for my personal information that can be used to steal identity. I also want to know if it possible to check legitimacy of this company.
