I spent fifteen as a soldier and have always had a problem with my pay. Regardless of the situation (aafes, child support, taxes, over/under payroll payment etc.), getting it fixed will be like pulling teeth. The system will screw you beginning with your unit. Finiance companies have bullshit rules stating soldiers must report with supervisors in order to talk with a finiance member. If you have a sorry s.O.B. For a supervisor like i did, then you will never get paid. If you do see one of these jerks, they will either totally screw it up or blow you off. If dfas owes you money, good luck cause it will probably never come. If you owe them a dollar, it will be taken with a sonic boom of speed! I have a normal life with a normal job and i am glad i am no longer at the mercy of these people. I can't remember how many times i had to pay for their mistakes (no pay, bounced checks, false claims on my pay for debts i didn't even have)!
If you are thinking about joining the army, be prepared to do it for free cause only Officers and NCO's can have a problem free pay.
How does DFAS expect americas son's and daughtars to go overseas and possibly get killed if they can't even get paid? If i had my way, all these DFAS son's of * would be out of a job!!!
