On 05/03 Collect Corp called my mother and gave out or debt record. The caller Mrs. Crawford said my mom lied saying she was Susan, my wife. She then gave out our information. Her manager Mr. Banin said she may have lied about my mother saying she was Susan.
The debt is in my name not Susan. They have called our house many times. They are trying to guilt us to paying the debt. And they are trying to mess up our family, my mom has a heart condition and my dad has parkinson's disease. Both acts are prohibited by the fair debt collections practices act.
I called Mr. Banin and he said he was well versed in the F.D.C.P.A., and his staff is well trained. Yet he said it is ok for them to anybody with the same last name to go fishing for us. And if they have the same first name by chance they can give out confidential information.
They do not have to check any specific personal information like your social security number. So according to him if John Doe owes a debt they can all John Doe household and relay the personal information to anyone they call.
If you owe a debt to Collect Corp please check your records. They may have violated your personnel federal rights. If so go to ftc. Gov and report them. They also call up to six times a day harassing us. According to the F.D.C.P.A. After 1 call a day it is harrasment.
Mr. Banin has no fear of the ftc. Gov or you when violating your federal rights. He said good luck finding a lawyer for collect corps illegal collection methods. The ftc. Gov tracks complaints against third party debt collectors. And if there is enough fair complaints they will take legal action.
Please put illegal third party debt collectors like collect corp out of business! Better yet the ftc. Gov also allows abused people to collect settlements from the third party debt collectors. Just because you have a debt shouldn't allow you to be a victim too!
