I received a letter from Asset Acceptance LLC dated 8/5/04 stating I had an account with them and in order to insure proper credit for payments, I should contact them. I did and this has been a nightmare ever since.
I knew I did not open any account with any company by the name of Asset Acceptance LLC. They informed me that they bought an outstanding account of mine from Bank of America, but could not give me any info other than an account number. Not even a year of when this account was supposed to have been opened. I questioned them getting no answers.
I researched this through Bank of America, all the way to the top. I pulled my credit reports looking for this oversight and I ordered my 1989 bankruptcy documents from the State of California where Asset Acceptance says is the Bank of America Branch I owe.
No where can this account be found. I will not pay for something that cannot be proved just because a letter tells me I do. This is wrong and I am tired of the late night recorded phone calls.
