Ripoff cell phone telemarketing scam

This company called my personal cell phone and told me I was chosen to recieve a tax free government grant for $8000.

Having written government grants, I knew this was not possible. I asked which branch of the government & she said the US government. I stated that it has not been my experience that George Bush was choosing to give random grants to American citizens. She said I was selected based on my credit report and tax return, to which I stated You mean you have already reviewed my credit history and tax returns? She said I would call an 800 number to verify.

When I asked for the 800 number now to verify that she is legitimate, she hung up (or my cell phone lost the call) She said she was in Las Vegas, but she had an Indian accent.

I filed my cell phone number with the do not call registry months ago, yet I still get telemarketers using my minutes to scam me.
How can we stop this?
