About a year ago I got a letter from Cross Country Bank stating that I was pre-approved for a Gold Visa. I applied for the card. I got the Gold Visa after two weeks. Got a whopping $350 credit limit! Having credit problems in the past, I didn't mind because I need a major credit card for rental cars, hotels and stuff.
I was never late on my payments and I usually pay a lot more than the amount due (usually $150-$200). During the holidays, I decided to pay off the entire balance on my card which at that time was $305.
A week later, I went to go Christmas shopping, and decided to use the card for a purchase of about $60. Low and behold, my card was declined. So I was wondering why it was declined when I paid off the entire balance over a week ago.
So called CrossCountry Bank (long distance) and ask why my card was declined. They told me that they froze my account until my payment cleared the bank.
I asked them why when they never did before. They told me that because I made such large payment. They told me I had to wait 12 days before I can use my card again.
So that was the beginning of our good relationship. I now pay close attention to all my bills. I recently noticed that I was being charged "cash advance fee" on my account when I never use my card to get cash. I'm still waiting for explanation from these scammers.
