I was young and wanted a credit card. They sent a letter saying that I was approved for a gold card. Without consulting with anyone, I sent the $49.00 off and a few weeks later I recieved a gold card alright! It didn't scan and the letters and numbers were not "raised" as you would normally see on a credit card and there was no bar to scan to make purchases, it resembles a library card more than anything.
The website was bogus and the number was non-working. So they made $50.00 off my ignorance. If someone wants to give you a credit card, they will. Don't sent them anything! I can laugh about it now, but thank God that wasn't my last $50.00 and that I didn't have kids to take care of or anything. I pity the person who was taken and really counted on this card for help.
