What is was like to work at camco... This is a letter to the editor in the rockford registar newspaper & gives a sense of what it was like for some of their employees:
I have been following the story on CAMCO, and I must say that even though I hate to see people lose their jobs I am hoping that they get shut down for good. See, I worked there for three months, and to tell you the truth they were the worst three months I have ever experienced in the work force.
Some of the people I worked with were OK, but some of them were very mean to the people on the phone.
I think the worst thing I have ever heard there was when one of the collectors was bugging a supposed debtor, and she told the collector "the person you are looking for is my husband and he is dead."
The collector further went on and kept bugging this lady and she finally told the collector to "go to hell." The collector, before hanging up the phone, said, "looks like your husband got there before me."
My point is that I felt wrong about working there after a while, and when they let me go it was a relief because I could lay my head down at night and sleep once again, and to put it bluntly I would rather get attacked by a gang of sharks than to ever work at that place again.
