I had a getsmart credit card which was sold to emerge. My interest rate went from 14.9% to 29.99% when it was sold. I was not informed of this sale till I checked to make a payment online.
I had the account for awhile and did pay it off once. After I paid it off my credit limit was reduced without notice. After that, i continued to use the card. I made my payments on time except for one occasion. I was late for a few days. They called and asked if I can make a double payment, which I did.
I called to see if my payment went thru and they told me, my account was under review and I couldn't use the card. I was to supposed to receive a letter in two months explaining why it was under review. I received nothing.
I just recently called and asked if my card was still under review and they told me my card was expired. I asked why, to one of the useless representatives who can hardly speak english. He told me he doesn't know why and he is sorry for the inconvience. I asked for a name of a bank representative I can speak to and he said there wasn't any one. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he put me on hold for a half an hour, I hung up. This company is a major rip off. Forget a payment and see what happens. Thet call you toot sweet. I don't think its legal to sell an account to another credit card company and not tell you.
I don't think its legal to raise your interest rate and not tell you. You can't get any answers out of anyone of the representatives. I can't use a card I paid off once all ready and I am keeping up on my payments to them. All my payments are being sent out by priorirty mail, so i know they are getting there on time. My account balances seem too never go down.
There should be a way where everyone who has been ripped off by this illegal credit card company, to sue them and get the money back from them. I think if enough of us got together and sent email out to lawyers and the Better business bureas, something might get done. Something should be done!!!
I went after a bank once with a good lawyer and I won my case. Almost the same deal, except my payments were going in someones pocket and not on the loan. Let's see if we can get people together who all got ripped off by this company and do something about it.

Now a year later, I sent them this letter:
To whom it may concern,
You people are nuts. I was told by someone in your company, that if I made my payment before the due date, that my account will be opened and I can use my card. I just called and asked if my card is valid and was told no. After I made my double payment 11 days before the due date. Over 2 years ago, someone called me to make a double payment by phone. I did!
Then I went to use my card and it was declined, so I called to find out why. They told me my card was under review and it should take a month to see if my card would be opened again. I called a month later and was told my account was expired. I was never sent anything in the mail to state this fact. So, now I am making payments, as best as I can, and I recieve a phone call from one of your representatives, telling me that if I make a payment before the due date that I will be able to use my card again.
WHAT A CROCK? I think it was just a ploy for you to get my money. I'll continue to make my payments until there comes such a time that I can pay it off. I'll refer everyone I know to stay away from this type of business.
It's christmas time and even tho my account is up to date, I STILL CAN'T USE MY ACCOUNT... THANKS FOR NOTHING
I don't understand, if why there are so many reports about this company, that nothing is being done.
If you go back to the many other reports (and I mean MANY) alot of different people aare complaining about the same thing. It looks like to me that no one wants to really get invovled with trying to sue this company. I could have really used my credit this year, because my company where I worked for nearly 21 years shut down and moved.
I will try and pay this dump off, but it seems to me that even if you pay them off, they still charge you with fees. IT ISN'T RIGHT! Something should be done to help everyone who has dealt with this company!
