Customer Service lies - Basic Checking

I have had US Bank for over 6 years. Some checks were lost and I called in about a stop payment. I was told that the stop payment fee would not go into affect until the checks were presented at the bank. Sounds good to me, if the checks were never found then I would never be charged. The checks were found by a good samaritan and destroyed. Imagine my shock to see the stop payment fees of $35 on my account. I had been LIED to! I called to complain and the boy who answered kept me on hold for over 10 minutes while he talked to his supervisor. According to him, his supervisor said they could not reverse the charges. They lied to me. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone again. I am currently shopping for a new honest bank, if anyone knows one, please let me know.
