Breeder and sick 4-day old shih tzu puppy get turned turned away from Vet

I am a Shih Tzu Breeder, and took a very sick 4-day old puppy, who lost more than 1/2 it's body weight since birth to Indian Land Animal Hospital on Lancaster Hwy. SC on Thursday, July 29. They informed me that the puppy needed specialty care and they weren't a specialty Vet that I would have to take her to the Animal Emergency Hospital on Hwy. 49 and Westinghouse Blvd. Charlotte. But they charged me $39.00 for services rendered. I took this sick little puppy barely weight 3 oz. To the Emergency Hospital, to find out within minutes that she had "fading puppy syndrome" and there was no hope for recovery. I paid an additional $210.00 to have the puppy put down. RnrnI have also copied correspondence between Indian Land Animal Hospital and myself for viewing. I hope that you'll contact me at your earliest convenience, as I feel that this vet is responsible for the additional costs I have incurred just to put the puppy down. RnrnThank you for your time and I look forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience. RnRegards, rnPatricia DeidunrnImperial Shih Tzu’s By Triciarnwww.imperialshihtzusbytricia. Comrnrnrnrn rnDear Ms Deidun, rnI wanted to get back to regarding your call yesterday and begin by saying I am very sorry about the loss of Brianna. I did speak to both the front staff and Dr. Gillis about the visit yesterday. As far as handling your emergency, my staff did exactly what they should have - they took you, even as a walk in new client ahead of the other clients and began assessing Brianna and helping her. Dr. Gillis let you know that if you wanted to continue care for her, you would need to get her to CVS. I know emergencies are very stressful and worrisome, but Danielle stated that she asked you two times for your last name so she could get you checked out and you would not answer her. I apologize that you feel like you were not checked out fast enough, but I feel like my staff provided Brianna with appropriate emergency attention. With that I do not feel like a refunded is deserved, and have to wonder with your breeding history why you did not use your regular veterinarian where the staff would know you by name, thus avoiding needing to ask you during an emergent situation. Again I am sorry for your loss. RnSincerely, rnLisa C Shawrn rnrnMy response to her email... Rn rnBrianna was diagnosed with "Fading Puppy Syndrome" and it cost me an additional $210.00 to have her diagnosed and put down. Rn rnDr Gillis informed me that her body temperature was so low it wouldn't register on the thermometer. (This is impossible), how is it that the Emergency Animal Hospital was able to draw her temp to read 91.2??? I was also informed by Dr. Gillis, that your facility would not be able to assist me with Brianna, because you weren't a specialty hospital and she would need special care. I was not asked if I wanted to receive continue care for her, I was basically shown the door. I wasn't even told what was wrong with her, but yet the Emergency Animal Hospital was able to. Rn rnI told Danielle my last name, several times. What I should have done was just walked out. Rn rnHow is it that the Emergency Animal Hospital was able to diagnosis her within the first 15 minutes that she was suffering from "Fading Puppy Syndrome" and Dr. Gillis couldn't... Rn rnThe reason I didn't go to my regular vets is because I thought getting her to the closest vet would benefit her the best, especially with the nature of the emergency, my normal Vet is Carolina Animal Hospital in Fort Mill and I live in Ballantyne. Rn rnI will gladly share my experience with your facility with Action Nine and any other Media that would be interested in hearing that a Animal Hospital turned Brianna away, in her last moments of life. Rn rnI found your facility to be the worse I have ever experienced in my life time and I will make sure others (as many as possible) hear my story and my experience from your facility... Rn rnYour staff is and was very unprofessional, as your front desk clerk, found it more important to have a personal call than help me check out, in my situation. Rn rnRegards, rnPatriciarnrnrnrnrn
