I was to purchase a Visla puppy from Mary Corbett owner of Corbett Creek Kennels and now named Autunm Oaks Kennel. It was a very horrible experience that I would prefer to forget but want to warn any one who be thinking of purchasing a puppy from this breeder. All e-mails and the web site were very professional (Note- any one can make a web site and e-mail look/sound professional.) I mistakenly thought that because this breeder was a member of the American Kennel club it would be reputable. (Not true, any individual breeder willing to pay can be a member of the club).
I originally went to pick out our puppy two weeks before we were to pick it up. While there the place smelled of feces and urine, but my love and compassion of seeing the puppies lead to me over looking the first sign of a bad business. We chose our puppy and then was told we needed to choose a 'back up ' puppy, which I did not want to do because she said we were first pick and then changed her mind and said we were second pick. Second sign,
when we went to pick up our puppy I was told I was 4th pick and I asked where my puppy was because I had already picked it out. She left and went into another room. a couple came out with a puppy. Mary Corbett then came out of the room she was in and took the puppy out of that couples arms and said they needed to pick out another puppy. The woman said "Maybe this is your puppy" Mary then stated "it is never of your puppy -it is Toms puppy and left the room with that puppy. The couple then had to choose another puppy.
This story is true and continues to get worse-needless to say I left with my deposit (Cash- she didn't have my check deposit) and left heartbroken and feeling extremely sorry for all the dogs under her care.
I share my story to prevent others who love animals having to experience the same heart ache.
