Auto of an accident victim stolen by the victim's auto insurance claims department. My vehicle was hit in a two vehicle accident on the NJ Garden State Parkway on December 03. While I was in the hospital, my former auto insurance provider, Allstate Insurance Company, stole the vehicle from the holding yard, kept my personal items and sent the vehicle to a "chop shop" or auto auction in New Jersey.
Without provocation or reason other than plain greed, members of the claims department have a hustle where customers vehicles are "totalled" but quickly resold at high profit for the adjustors. The vehicle that was stolen from the lot had suffered only relatively minor damage to the front fenders and door panels. Its whereabouts were found by investigation in a chop shop in Monmouth Cty., NJ, over one month later. The title information was falsified by the claims department so as to obtain the title from the bank and attempt to re-title the vehicle. The name of the owner (myself) was falsified by some means and submitted to the bank in exchange for the title. The vehicle now sits somewhere in NJ but is still registered in the name of the owner.
All of the medical bills generated by the hospital visit have not been paid. Additionally, the hospital has contracted at least three credit collection agencies against me because the medical bills caused by this accident have not been paid from December to the present. The insurance policy was for full comprehensive coverage, however. I, as the driver, have been with Allstate Insurance from 1991 to the present without any infractions or accidents. This matter is under investigation by the Banking and Insurance Commissions of Del., NJ, and PA.
