Insurer Took My Pawned Computers and Will Not Return Them

I bought 2 new computers less than 8 months ago, one from Fry's Electronics and one from Walmart. So far so good. I spilled some diet Coke on the screens while driving down the road and took the computers to a repair shop in Dallas. Six weeks later the computers were returned to me, and everything worked great. In January I was broke and needed money, so I took a computer to Cash America and got a loan for 180 dollars. I made monthly payments and pawned the second computer at the same Cash America for approximately 200 dollars. Business started getting better, so I went down to pick up the computers (because my business is seasonal, swimming pool business). The computers were not there. Uh oh. The pawn shop refused to tell me where they were (thanks a lot, Cash America).

Finally, after I called 911 and Dallas police, they told me two policemen said Allstate Insurance picked them up. Sorry, nothing Dallas can do. So I called the Grand Prairie police department and reached the detective there. I asked what was going on. The detective said the computers came back as stolen. I said no way, but okay. He said he was investigating, and I said great, I'm home free. I am a 58-year-old white guy, never been arrested, no criminal record whatsoever. I was talking 90 miles an hour to the detective about this, and he kept telling me to slow down and not get excited. I told the detective my whole life is on these computers: banking info, customers, jobs, everything. I needed them because people were ready to do business with me April 1. Then he told me the computers were safe at Cash America while he did his investigation. I interrupted him again and told him Allstate Insurance had picked them up. He said, and I quote, "They can't do that," that I was wrong, and that he would call the pawn shop.

Guess what? He called me back and said Allstate Insurance did pick them up, and he did not understand how, with an ongoing investigation. Oh well, sorry, he could not help me.

(Edit: So far nobody will help or tell me which Allstate agent, or give me an office phone number. Nothing.)

Finally I located where my computers were: the Allstate Insurance company. Surprise! I got ahold of the person in charge and told my story. After a week there was still no resolution. They offered to buy the computers back and offered to buy the hard drive only back. I then asked for a supervisor, got a new person and kept calling back. Sorry, lawyers at Allstate are trying to decide what to do. I asked to talk to someone higher, and I was told, quote, "nobody higher you can talk to," just wait and they will get back to me.

Every day I lose business because I do not have access to photographs (20 years' worth) and customers I am supposed to call April 1.

Here is the deal: your computers were stolen and ended up with other stolen goods. Police do not have them. Allstate Insurance company has them and will not give them back. Does that seem fair to anyone?

Anybody higher up at Allstate Insurance company care to help me?
