Locks Changed After House Fire and Valuables Went Missing

MidFirst Mortgage in Oklahoma holds a small mortgage (VA) on my home in Jacksonville, FL. About 1 month ago my home burned from an electrical fire. During the fire I called the proper department and told them the house is unlivable and that the insurance company had boarded up the house. I gave them the extent of the damage, and I spoke to a girl named Amy, who documented the information and stated that would be fine. MidFirst would wait for the insurance company to contact them with the proper information.

My next horrible surprise was that on Friday the house locks were taken off and new ones were put on, with the old locks thrown on the floor of the front door foyer. Upon looking around, I found that the house had been robbed and over 15,000 worth of valuables that the insurance company was to come and get to clean were gone.

I panicked and called the insurance company, who told me to call the police, which I did. In the meantime, here comes a run-down truck with 4 guys who stated they were from MidFirst Mortgage to winterize the house. Since the house was empty, the MidFirst Mortgage supervisor, Richard, authorized the company, which I do not know, since they came in an unmarked truck with only brooms in the back. I asked for ID from the job; they had none, but they said they had a work order. I didn't see that either.

When I called Richard and asked him what was going on, he said it was legal to break into someone's house and winterize it. I asked why no notice was sent out. He said he had no time to send out notices and that these guys just come when he tells them after house fires and so on.

So now I am missing valuables, personal papers, electronics, silver, narcotic drugs and hard liquor. When I explained this to Richard at MidFirst, he pushed the situation off to the company he called to do the winterizing and stated they will handle the claim. The guys hired by MidFirst broke into the house with the permission of MidFirst, and Richard authorized this break-in. MidFirst had all the ways to contact me. I feel this is breaking into private property, and they stole articles and damaged things too.

They also took unauthorized pictures. The sad part of the whole situation is that they took a 73-year-old wedding picture of my parents and broke it into pieces, looking for money I guess. If there are any attorneys out there interested in this case, as I am looking for a good, strong, aggressive one, I can be contacted through this email site.
