This little issue started when our property taxes went up. In late May or early June we received a letter stating that we were short on our escrow payment for taxes, in the sum of around $400.00. The letter came with a stub to mail with the payment separate from the normal mortgage, and it stated that the mortgage increase would occur the following month. The increase came in June, and we paid the additional fees with the mortgage and then sent in the required funds to cover the escrow shortage. Along came July (note: I sent in additional funds with the mortgage just in case), and we got a letter stating we were short funds. I called Midland and asked about the mortgage check that they cashed and the escrow check that they had also cashed.
The associate stated that the escrow check had been applied to the mortgage in error. I then asked how soon this would be resolved... August came along and I called asking for a new payment book. To my surprise I got one in the mail a few days later for the amount it would have been if we had not sent in the shortage. I called back to MLM again and they said the funds had been applied to escrow, but my new payment was $20 more than the original amount. I called back and spoke with another associate. The payment was adjusted, and a new coupon book would be in the mail, or so they said.
Today I got a letter stating we are short funds and now a late fee of $60. Now it is time for war. I have copies of the cleared checks, the dates and the times, can you say LS... I have already contacted the Oklahoma County court and have received my affidavits... Companies like this cannot take advantage of anyone. I think there are more of us out here experiencing this sort of thing.
