My company had seven web sites, both public and private (used for back-office functions), that were cancelled for reasons I have been unable to find out after numerous calls over the past 5 days. Not only did we lose our web sites, but we also lost all email capabilities with our customers and vendors. As a result, for the past 5 days the business has been almost totally paralyzed. Their customer service representatives have provided me with 3 different email addresses to communicate with, because there is no telephone contact available with the department that is responsible for the shutdown of my company's sites and email. After 5 days and many promises from customer service representatives, I was finally able to reach an alleged customer service representative who returned my call from 503-615-3600. He said that he would contact the appropriate department, which would email me soon. However, as of this time I have had no reply.
My company was not involved in any questionable business and was not in violation of any spamming laws, since we use another agency for our emails that is compliant.
How a company can totally shut down another organization without notice or reason defies all logic and business sense. The customer service is horrendous, and the fact that they do not want telephone contact with their various departments speaks for itself. If you know of anyone who is considering setting up a business web site with this company, please warn them. A business that I spent three years and thousands of dollars to develop is now dead in the water because of Yahoo's business practices, policies and procedures. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Silicon Valley, Inc., and the Federal Trade Commission. If anyone else is aware of similar incidents, please advise me so I can determine if legal action can be pursued.
