I paid for a Yahoo Email Plus account and had it for several years without problems, other than receiving loads of spam that was filtered into the junk mail box. One day, without notice, my email account was disabled. After calling customer service (no easy matter), I was told that I had violated the Terms of Service, but they refused to specify which terms. After numerous emails and several long telephone calls in which I badgered them endlessly, I received a refund on my credit card, but Yahoo still refused to specify what grievous violation I had committed.
Fortunately, I had a backup email account, and I had saved most of my past emails in MS Outlook folders. Even so, I had to scramble to notify people and recover from Yahoo's malicious actions. It is obvious that Yahoo and other Internet service providers need strong government oversight and regulation to force them to provide minimum, ethical standards of consumer service.
If you use Yahoo email, be advised they can cancel your account without notice or explanation. You certainly should avoid using the service for any business purpose.
