An infection had developed on my hand. My doctor, who is a specialist, wrote me a prescription. Humana refused to cover it unless pre-authorization came first, and that takes a week. The infection was worsening and I required the drug right away, so I paid out of pocket. The infection was long-standing, and I had been under this doctor's care for some time. Every earlier treatment he tried failed.
Seven days afterward Humana rejected the claim, saying the drug was not right for that infection. And the result? The drug worked and the infection cleared up. Humana is effectively claiming that my doctor is incompetent. That is false!
Here is the point: I pay Humana for health coverage. When my doctor says a drug is needed, Humana has no right to refuse it. The people there are not physicians! I will switch insurers in January. Humana is useless. USELESS!
No other insurer has ever given me trouble. My employer switches plans every couple of years, so over the past 15 years I have been covered by a LOT of different companies.
Humana, you owe me money AGAIN!!!
