I rented this residence ih Hampton Bays through HomeAway for thanksgiving last year. The owner was organized at first and, having agreed upon a price, I proceeded to deposit the agreed rent and personally gave her the security deposit upon arrival. The stay was pleasant and we did not break anything.
Having departed the residence, the owner stopped taking our calls/answering our mails and text messages. She has refused to return the security deposit or offer any explanation as to why she might be entitled to keep it.
I have made HomeAway aware of our situation, but have gotten nothing more than excuses from them. They take the trouble to explain why they are not liable, but haven't done anything to protect their users from this person! The property is still listed and the owner still uses the same number! (I sometimes call from another line and she picks up).
