Complaint / Review
Compuserve
On Aug 20 my daughter had

On Aug 20 my daughter had her purse stolen, in it was a ‘family’ credit card. We promptly cancelled the card. As it goes, Compuserve Information Systems (CI$ for short) attempted to bill against the card. CI$ promptly shut off my email service. I have been a CI$ subscriber since 1985.

My conclusion is: Don’t do business with CI$/AOL, period! I have been without email for an entire week, after numerous conservations with their ‘staff’.

I base my conclusion on these facts:

#1. This is the worst customer service I have ever received. To me, it is immoral to treat another human being with such little regard.

#2. There is no continuation of the case/problem. Every time you call, you need to explain the entire problem, over and over and over again. My guess is that they hope you will give up.

#3. Empty statements: Your email will be restored in 24 hrs. After 48 hrs, another person tells you 72 hrs. After 72 hrs, another person says we are really going to get this done in the next 24 hrs. Continual apologies, we’re sorry, I’m sorry, we are very sorry. Being sorry doesn’t fix anything.

#4. No analysis of past history. I have been a CI$ subscriber since 1985. They could have saved themselves and me a whole lot of time, just by sending me an email, and giving me a couple of days grace period, to update my credit card number.

#5. No internet support. Yeah, that's right, an internet company with no internet support. I feel if I could have submitted the new credit card info myself, the problem might have already been solved.

#6. Subhuman treatment. Maybe us CI$ subscribers are a ‘load’, a ‘problem’, money losers. If so, get rid of us, put us out of our misery, but please don’t string me along. If my classic email address is a PITA, tell me, I would have left a long time ago, under more controlled circumstances.

Stay away from compuserve / aol / time warner.
