During Thanksgiving Week of my fiancee and I had the unfortunate experience of staying in the Murray Hill Inn, New York City, between Lexington & Third Ave in mid-town.
We were looking for an inexpensive location from which to visit family and long-time friends regarding our recent engagement. Unfortunately, we the Murray Hill In on the Internet (www.NYInns.com) and did not do the research regarding the service level or previous guest experiences.
The rooms of the Murray Hill Inn are VERY SMALL and had been undergoing renovation. I stepped out of the shower in one of the newly renovated rooms and BURNED my shoulder on an exposed STEAM pipe which extended from ceiling to the floor of the tiny closet like bathroom. The pipe was NOT labeled at all—there was no warning provided to guests that the pipe was HOT and could SCALD.
I received a serious burn on my SHOULDER which required topical treatment including bandaging. This occurred during a holiday weekend. The bandage created an allergic reaction around the burn which my dermatologist told me was SECOND DEGREE BURN.
Of course my fiancee and I reported to the management and had the presence of mind to take pictures of the room, the exposed pipe and me in front of the room where we were staying.
To date, the Murray Hill Inn management has not acknowledged the incident and referred calls from my attorney to an insurance company who indicated that THE MURRAY HILL INN was NOT insured!
Basically, DO NOT patronize The Murray Hill Inn Hotel or any of the hotels belonging to NYInns.com hotel group!!! These hotels are UNSAFE and be aware they are not even properly INSURED.
They are about to be SUED!!!
