During December I purchased a book from BUY.com. At the end of the transaction I was asked to answer a couple of questions, about half way through answering the questions, I decided that they were asking for way too much info, so I cancelled out of it. When I got my January statement for my credit card, there is a $7.00 charge from:
"WLI* ReservationRewards. CO888-688-5995 CT"
I was puzzled as to who these people were, so I googled the company name and found usacomplaints. Coms on them. I called them up and made a 'friendly' request to cancel the subscription that I have never asked for and to have a charge credit put on my account for the amount they had charged me. I spoke to a woman named Jessica who said she would do this, but I will wait for my next statement.
Clearly this is internet fraud. I was never asked if I wanted a subscription and I never provided my credit card info to them, but somehow they have it. I can only surmise that BUY.com gave it to them, or they used some kind of trick to get cached info from my browser. Either way, this was a blatant ripoff attempt and I am going to follow this up with my local police department to see if I can have fraud charges brought against Reservation Rewards.
