Dear Spirit Airlines,
I am sorry your business plan is so terrible and you are in such financial straights. I suggest filing a chapter 7 bankruptcy through your legal team. It is apparent that you have financial problems. I flew you airlines recently and found out at the airport that you changed your check on baggage weight limit to 40 lbs NOT the industry STANDARD of 50 lbs. Although your clerk did mention it was posted on your web site it must have been in the barely readable legal jargon your attorneys put together. So that caused problems by having to shift not 10 lbs not 15 lbs but 3 lbs from our luggage into our back packs which were already full. Of course smashing more into there made security question our bags and we had to have the bags checked entering security because it looked like a mix match or stuff from my wifes curling iron to cell phone charges etc. Then there is the additional charge you have to put said back pack into the overhead compartment. You even charge for that.
But it gets better... A few days before the trip I decided to secure our seats. Now if this is on your web site then perhaps you have a great legal team and should use them for your impending bankruptcy because we Americans will not put up with your crap much longer. I secured our seats and what do I find??? Low and behold another $92 fee to pre-select a seat. How nuts is that? Then if you want a mere $. 50 bottle of water it is $2.00, Apple juice $3.00... I didn't even price beer because knowing what I have already been through with your horrible customer service airline it would have been a security deposit for the beer can and another $20.00 charge to the old credit card.
What is next Spirit airlines? Why don't you just go cheap all the way. Here are a couple of suggestions in your last ditch effort to save your failing company. Put a credit card swiper on the bathroom door. You can get $1.00 for each bathroom use, how about installing a swiper by the A/C and the light there is $. 25 cents more for you. Charge women to carry a purse there you can get a cool $25.00. Come on Spirit let me help you improve your failing financial position. There are 3 viable options for you to help you not fail. Now if you wish to be proactive (which apparently you do not) I would place people (undercover) at baggage claim areas, in line at the airport checkin and listen to your customers complain about you. As we were waiting in line in Detroit to get through security, I counted at least 12-15 people saying never again Spirit, and on the return at baggage claim. At least another 5-7. So on one trip, that I am aware of, that is 17-22 people that will not use you again. How long do you think you can stay in business with that record and that is at one airport. Have your fancy lawyers do the math on that one! You are doomed. Accept the fact and close down.

Now lets compare you to the big 3, Continental, United and Delta and see if you are truely a "deal". I looked on Orbitz and priced a flight to Mexico in April 1 person staying for 1 week. Here are the results.
