My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to stay on 2/20 after our plans changed and came upon this hostel. The attendant there (James) said they had a private room available for three nights, so we booked it for $227 plus a $30 deposit and $15 for parking that first night. We paid in cash since they charged a 5% fee if you used a credit or debit card. They also do not log their records in a computer because "the owner hates computers" so the poor kid at the desk is maintaining manual records in a ledger. We paid, left our car in the lot, and went to dinner.
When we returned from dinner and went to the room, we discovered it was completely infested with bugs. Roaches, beetles, bedbugs, and others that I don't even know what to call them, not to mention any that I couldn't see (like mites or fleas). I don't mind a bug or two in a hostel, I get it that bugs are rampant in Hawaii, but this place was INFESTED.
