Heads up FAMILIES with pets or children (or even older couples, whatever)... DO NOT waste your money at WOODLAND LAKE CAMP & RV RESORT! They claim this to be a "Family Campground"... Not so. We just had the most horrible experience. So horrible in fact that after spending 2 hours into setting up our campsite, we wound up back at home at 1:00am. Here is what happened:
A baseball team consisting of at least 20 young guys show up at almost midnight. They were whipping through there repeatedly with their cars (max speed is 15km/h, these guys were easily doing around 60km/h down those paths). They were drinking, partying, and carrying on right up until almost 6:00am. They were walking through campsites, attempting to climb people's trailers (honestly) and threatening to steal people's camp site items such as firewood, chairs, etc. I know this as my family HEARD them and SAW them. I was forced to take my 4 year old son home at 1:00am because he absolutely could not sleep and was terrified as a result of their behavior. So, my sister and I boot up to the front office, wake up the "hosts" and inform them of what is going on. My sister was promised a full refund in the morning. They are woken up (after really no rest whatsoever) to a guy barfing his guts out RIGHT BESIDE THEIR TENT and passed out people strewn all over the place! Our neighbor on the other side walked by and commented about how disgusting their behavior was, how we were not the only ones who have had our evening and experience ruined by them, and were wished "good luck in cooking breakfast and keeping it down" after the guy finished barfing basically on our site. Nice eh? Well, we were thinking "at least they are being good about it and refunding our money"... Not so. My sister gets up to the office to claim her promised refund... And was basically told where to go! They stated it was "against their policy, there is absolutely NO refunds, and that if WE WERE THAT UNSATISFIED WE WERE NOT WELCOMED BACK!!! Verbatim. So, as a breakdown, we were the quiet, respectful family... Being told that "this is camping" and to "suck it up". No, this is NOT camping. Camping is to relax and get away from BS like this that we deal with in daily life. I do not care that these idiots wanted to party... However... There are camping places that cater to that kind of behavior. A family campground is UNACCEPTABLE for it. The fact that I am now out $100 and am most likely not going to go camping again in Ontario as a result is not ok. Oh and I should mention, because of their "no refund" policy, my sister was told that she would be given a credit for another week-end... And now I call and apparently they are NOT even going to do that! Unreal! We used to go to this place when the old owners had it, and now that it has been taken over by a Corporation... Well it has gone right downhill. Those guys should have been removed. Period.instead we are punished for their behavior. So, I would advise that if you are looking to take your kids and family camping this season, AVOID this place like the plague! They do not care about customer satisfaction, they do not care about adhering to their own rules (unless you are requesting a refund of course)-their policy states that NO ONE is admitted into the park AFTER 9pm... This crap started after 11pm... Moving onto their site and setting up. So it was not like they were already in prior and just coming back from being out. This was a ridiculous situation. I hope that this at least spares some family the horrible expense and inconvenience of this place. What a headache!!! If you want a GREAT camping experience, I would suggest Silver Birches out on Army Camp Road. This Woodland Park is terrible. I am only writing this to help someone in making a good choice this season, I wish that I had seen a review like this prior to wasting my time, gas, and money. Thanks for reading and take care.
