I have had a vacation planned since October. I used OneTravel.com to book my flight on British Airways.
I received an email from OneTravel.com stating that because of a strike by the flight crew of British Airlines, that one of my flights has been canceled. Looking at OneTravel.com's policies as well as that of British Airways, they are to refund ALL of my money when a flight is canceled by the airline.
So I called up to reschedule with another airline and was told that my flight was indeed not canceled and everyone who booked a flight on British Airways received a message just like that "just in case"... I asked several times, so what happens if it does get canceled? They insisted that I would have the choice of either getting all my money back, or rescheduling for another date. They would let me know within 4 days if the flight was going to be canceled or not. This is a family vacation and our vacation dates are already set in stone and can not be changed. So I OneTravel.com about rescheduling me on another airline. They could not until the flight was actually canceled., and no guarantees that they would be able to book a new flight in that short period of time. So I either wait and see or find another flight with another airline...
After speaking to 3 different managers and supervisors, and not getting anywhere, I asked what it would cost to cancel the flight? $350/person. (4 people traveling, so that's $1400). I paid over 5K for those tickets, and after thinking about it for a day or two, I decided today to go ahead and cancel, pay the $1400 (meaning I should get a refund of a little over $3K) and rebook with another airline (I already rebooked and it was cheaper than OneTravel's original price too)...
Today they tell me that the fee is $375/person plus $117.25/person in taxes and fees... WTF??? 3 days ago, it was $350/person and there were no other fees mentioned (plus what is the $350 if not a fee???) The supervisor I spoke with this evening couldn't even tell me that.
I also tried calling British Airways and they insisted that I had to talk to the agent I booked through, they could not help me. Onetravel.com states that their hands are tied and British Airways won't allow them to cancel. So someone is lying here... My bet would be OneTravel.com.
While the strike of the British Airways cabin crew is not BA's fault, nor is it OneTravel.com's fault, it certainly isn't mine... But I'm forced to pay the fines/fees for this crap.
Just playing the odds, I checked the canceled flights in the last 3 days for British Airways, and all of them from my departure city to my destination city have been canceled at the last minute. Yesterday a flight was still scheduled, and today it was canceled. I can almost see that the flight will be canceled, and maybe I should just wait, but since it takes over 2 hours to wait on the phone to even talk to someone, I can't see waiting until a few hours before the flight to see if it is canceled or not.
DON'T EVER USE OneTravel.com for your travel plans. They will do whatever it takes to RIP YOU OFF!
