Stayed at Comfort Inn Monticello on the night of 2/22 and signed/authorized a charge to my Mastercard in the amount of $72.59 for that one night. Checked out on the morning of 2/23 with no problems and secured my receipt for the charge of $72.59. However, several days later Comfort Inn sends me a "revised" bill in the amount of $347.59. An additional amount of $270.00 on top of the $72.59. I called to inquire about the additional charge and the manager stated that was the charge for smoking in a non smoking room. PLEASE! I am a non smoker and most certainly did not smoke in the room. I specifically asked for the non smoking room because "I AM A "NON SMOKER". My fiance does smoke but he smoked outside of the room. He then placed his extinquished cigarette butts inside a can and disposed of them in the trash inside the room. Just because the extinquished butts were disposed of in the room does that mean the room was smoked in? I think not. I can only assume from this that my fiance was to just discard all his trash in their parking lot for the maintenance crew to clean up rather than have any respect at all and throw the trash where it belongs. I would like to see any written rules where you are not allowed to dispose of extinguished cigarette butts and beer cans in any hotel rooms?
