We recently purchased a hotel room through a Royal Holiday member, a co-worker, for 5 nights at the Bavaro Princess Hotel in Punta Cana, Mexico. We paid Royal Holiday directly for the value of the hotel room in points $900 USD plus $600 USD for all-inclusive points for 2 people for 5 nights. The total amount we paid was $1,500 for 2 people for 5 nights.
One week later, we sw the same hotel chain in Punta Cana advertised on major travel websites at a rate of $108 per room, 2 people all-inclusive. We immediately contacted Royal Holiday to request a cancellation or credit for the difference in price and were told that we could cancel less a penalty of one day of all-inclusive points, or $120 USD.
When we called back the next day however to request the refund, we were told we could not cancel. After contacting Royal Holiday Quality Assurance several more times, each time we were told a different story. Finally, two days befre traveling we were told we could not receive a refund and if we cancelled we would forfeit all points.
Consumers beware! Use extreme caution and compare all prices quoted by this company to current market rates. Worse off are members who purchased their points at excesive rates now well above the market.
As reported by other customers, once you have paid this company you have little chance of getting a refund without high penalties or conflicting policies, promises and penalty amounts from customer service. Not recommended - buyer beware.
